Frequently asked questions

Why not just use screen time or app blockers?

Screen Time and app blockers can help, they're not foolproof and can be frustrating to manage. A simple phone offers a straightforward solution and keeps the essentials.

How long will the phone battery last?

On a full charge, our phone will last up to 6 days on standby, and up to 4 hours with continuous use.

How can I set up the phone?

1. Get a physical SIM card
The LOCKED phone uses a physical Micro SIM card rather than an eSIM. We recommend getting a T-Mobile Micro SIM card.

2. Choose your phone number
You can either get a new number with your SIM card or transfer an existing number from another phone.

3. Already have a number on an eSIM?
You can usually keep your existing number. Contact your carrier and ask them to move your number from your current eSIM to a physical SIM card. Do not cancel your existing service until the transfer is complete.

4. Transfer your contacts
Your phone number and your contacts are separate. Contacts from an iPhone or other smartphone will usually not automatically transfer to LOCKED. You may need to manually transfer or add your contacts. If you need help, your carrier or a LOCKED support representative can help you find the best option.

5. Insert the SIM card
Turn off the phone, remove the back cover and battery, and insert the physical SIM card. Once the phone is powered back on, it should connect to your carrier's network.

We recommend setting up the phone at a T-Mobile store, where a representative can help activate your SIM, transfer your number, and make sure everything is working properly.

One thing to remember: your old texts and apps won't transfer to your new LOCKED phone - and that's kind of the point.

How durable is the phone?

Our phone is able to resist everyday drops much better than glass-backed smartphones.

Can the SIM card be reused?

Yes! The SIM card can be moved between phones that use a physical Micro SIM card.

If your current phone uses an eSIM (such as a newer iPhone model), you'll need to contact your carrier to transfer your number between the eSIM and the physical SIM used with LOCKED.
